Eco Schools
An Eco-shool is a school where the staff, parents and pupils all work together to promote environmental issues.
There are eight sections that we are involved in:
LitterTravelling to SchoolBiodiversityHealth promotionGrounds for LearningRecyclingWaterEnergyIn 2009/2010 Session we are focussing on Litter, Recycling, Travelling to School and Grounds for Learning.
We gained our first Green Flag Award in March 2008.

Our Green Flag!
Katherine Usher (GRAB) visited the school recently to complete a waste audit. She spoke to pupils about recycling our waste and how it can be re-used. Katherine also audited waste from the school kitchens on her visit. Bute Produce plan to use our waste to make compost.
The Eco Committee visited Bute Produce recently. Mr Billy Miller and Mr Chris Helm showed the pupils around the site and told them all about growing, composting and wind power from their newly installed wind turbine.
On Saturday 5th December 2009 the Eco Committee took part in a Guinness Book of Records tree planting event organised by BBC Breathing Spaces.
We planted 5 Rowan, 4 Hawthorn and 4 Crab Apple trees.
